Anaesthesia with drops or subtenon anaesthesia
Anaesthesia with drops (local anaesthesia) lies in the fact that the eye is instilled with drops before a surgery or procedure – anaesthetics which lead to numbness and disappearance of painful sensitivity. Their effect lasts for about an hour.
Subtenon anaesthesia (injection)
We use it in case of a complex surgery on the eye after preliminary anaesthesia with drops. It lies in injecting anaesthetics with a syringe around the eye, which ensure the immobilization of the eye and the disappearance of pain. The patient remains conscious.
