Retinal detachment treatment
We treat retinal detachment, which usually occurs when there are tears and degeneration in the retina. The most common reason is separation of the posterior part of the vitreous from the retina, tight attachment to which, in super-thin places, leads to tears.
For whom?
Patients with myopia, who see flashes of light, lightnings, a dark curtain, are at the greatest risk.
How can we help you?
If the patient undergoes examination in time, when the first symptoms appear, at the stage of a rupture without retinal detachment, laser treatment is possible.
In case of retinal detachment, treatment is exclusively surgical.
There are several types of retinal detachment surgery:
– Local buckling: from outside the eye, a silicone implant is sutured at the rupture site, with the liquid drained and the rupture blocked.
– Vitrectomy: the vitreous is removed through 3 ports, with fluid drained from under the retina and the rupture site blocked with a laser.
